Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, 1926 - 2022

An incredibly poignant moment in British history as we pause to reflect on the extraordinary life of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth and her seventy years of devoted service. We acknowledge her immeasurable contribution to the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth and the world. She leaves an exceptional legacy of public duty and service, which will inspire so many to serve and to lead with dignity, compassion and steadfastness.  Of all her quotes, this one below resonates for us as a business where we strive to embrace our values and work together.

"I know of no single formula for success, but over the years I have observed that some attributes of leadership are universal and are often about finding ways of encouraging people to combine their efforts, their talents, their insights, their enthusiasm and their inspiration, to work together." .During an address to the United Nations General Assembly

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth will be remembered with the greatest affection and respect.

IML Managing Director to Retire

Simon Peck, Managing Director at IML, is to retire on 31 December 2021.   Simon will be succeeded by James Cornock and Chris Richardson, who whilst maintaining their respective management responsibilities for Operations and Finance, will become joint Managing Directors.  Chris and James will be supported on the IML board by Mike Forrest, who is taking on the new additional role of Strategic Development Director, and by Tommy Pike, who is being invited to join IML’s board. David Gilmour will also continue in his current role on the IML board.

Alan Campbell, Chairman of IML, commented:  “I would like to thank Simon for all his years of service. As a founding member of IML, Simon has been with the business since the beginning, and I am sure it is obvious to all of us how committed he is to IML and to all of our people. He and I are both delighted that on his departure we are able to rely upon our remaining executive team to run IML.  This is a credit not just to the individuals concerned but also to the strength and depth of talent we have across the whole of our business”.

The War in Ukraine

The war in Ukraine is truly frightening because of its scale, its proximity to us, and the fact that the protagonists are East and West.  In no way do we wish to detract from the horrors of countless worldwide conflicts over recent decades, but the war in Ukraine is different and there is understandably a fear of what next.  The resilience of the Ukrainians and the generosity of the Poles, and other European neighbours, are astonishing and serve as wonderful examples to us all.

There is a very real awareness in IML that some of our staff have family members living in countries which border Ukraine, Russia and Belarus.  There is also another minor connection, in that Edinburgh, the home of IML, is twinned with Kyiv and has enjoyed this cultural association for over 30 years.

There is little we can do to influence what is happening, but we can support and with that in mind IML has made a donation to the Disasters Emergency Committee and its supporting charities.
