The Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh recently welcomed two local choirs whose performances added energy and atmosphere to one of the hospital’s busiest public areas.
Across two well attended lunchtime sessions, the George Watson’s College Choir and the Harmonise Community Choir performed a selection of familiar but newly arranged in the main mall. The performances were well received by staff and members of the public and provided a positive focal point within the hospital’s main mall.
Carol Stirrat, IML’s Services Operations Manager who coordinated the initiative noted,
“It was a terrific event, and rewarding to see the impact the choirs had delivering seasonal spirit to
patients, staff and visitors as they passed by during their lunch hour”.
The initiative reflects an ongoing commitment to bring community groups and music into the hospital. The ERI and Consort teams, supported by IML, actively seek such opportunities because they boost staff morale, strengthen links with local groups, and contribute to a more engaging and welcoming environment for everyone who spends time on site.
Consort Healthcare Ltd also donated £500 to NHS Lothian Charity, continuing a tradition of support from previous years. FM Services Provider, Equans provided refreshments as a thank you to the performers; it was a terrific team effort.
