𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗿𝘁𝘆 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗣𝗩 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝟭𝗠 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝟰𝟭𝟵 𝗔𝟰𝟭𝟳
It was an important week for the team at 𝗜𝗠𝗟 as we marked the conclusion of two award winning road projects. At midnight on 31 March, the thirty year contracts for the A1M Alconbury to Peterborough motorway and the A419 A417 Swindon to Gloucester dual carriageway were handed back to National Highways.
These projects were part of the very first group of design build finance and operate contracts in the UK. Managing them through to their conclusion has been a primary focus for our business and our success was recently recognised at the 2025 OPPPS Awards where the projects won in three categories.
While the operations have transitioned, our team remains active until June 2026, to manage the final demobilisation of depots, sell the gritting fleet and complete the handback certificates. We want to acknowledge Lee Johnson, our Operations Director, who has managed these assets for much of his career. This result was made possible by the efforts of our partners at Ringway and WSP along with our entire supply chain. We are also grateful to shareholders 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗿𝗮𝗥𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀 and 𝗔𝗹𝗯𝗮 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗿𝗮 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀 for their consistent support and diligence.
Beyond the technical milestones, we are incredibly proud of the outstanding safety record maintained over three decades and the role these projects have played in developing the next generation of industry professionals.
We are pleased to leave these routes in good condition for the road users.
